There will be no 0.13u shrink of Merced. Intel is going straight from 0.18u Merced to 0.18u McKinley to 0.13u Madison (McKinley shrink).

If I may offer a correction here: Madison can not be a "shrink" of McKinley because the introduction of copper in the .13u process makes an optical shrink impossible. At the very least Madison will require a new full layout of the design. I would expect that as long as they are at it, there will be some other goodies added as well.
