AMD has SOI coming to ensure that its .13 transition will be successful in producing significant performance gains. By way of contrast, Intel has slamming into a performance brick wall lined up for its .13 transition.

...which once again assumes that you actually get a performance benefit from SOI. Once again, Intel says they don't see it. There were a lot of articles detailing Intel's view on this one. AMD didn't get a MHz advantage from Cu... why should they gain one for SOI? In terms of raw frequency, Intel's "traditional Al" is the fastest thing going...
