Excellent post. Nice to see some digging into the numbers.

Two things to keep in mind:

1. While production may be up buy only a few percentage points in some cases, those production increases includes both oil and NG on an MMcfe basis. Since 85-90% of the drilling over the last two years has been for NG, the NG component of the increase is substantially higher than the oil component. If you evaluate the production increases in the reporting companies, you will find most of the increase is due to increases in NG and very little if any to oil.

2. The majority of the wells drilled in the U S still are drilled by the independents, most of whom are private companies and individuals. I suspect their production increases are a much larger percentage increase. There are over a thousand active independents operating in the US today.
