Sam for God
or
Mark Twain would make a very good God.

He would write to us on a regular basis, so prayer wouldn't be needed. He would drink with us, maybe even moonshine and tell us funny stories about frogs and rafts. He would never frighten us like that Poe fellow (that guy needs to chill). He would be a man, so then nobody would call God she.

You are right about Bertrand Russell, not nearly famous enough to be God. It would be like selecting John Coltrane for God, it would work, but a lot of people would be confused and dazed.

Two of my favorite people, Twain and Russell.
