>Intel is no longer in the process lead. ... Northwood is not going to make it against Throughbred on a performance basis.<

True enough in the short term. Using PSM, which is what Intel will most likely be doing throughout H1 2002, Northwood will be falling further behind Thoroughbred than Willamete will be behind Palomino.

But, Intel should be ramping 193nm laser lithography in H2 2002, which will enable Northwood to pull ahead of Barton.

>Barton would serve it up on a silver platter and the Hammers will grind it to dust.<

Mobile Barton will kill mobile Tualatin and cripple mobile Northwood. Desktop Appaloosa will kill desktop Tualatin. But desktop Barton is just a placeholder until Hammer production ramps. I think Clawhammer will indeed put the nails in the Northwood coffin, but I wouldn't stake my life on it.

PeckerHead - Re:"You are under a mistaken impression. Intel is no longer in the process lead. AMD leads and Intel follows"

Intel is on schedule to introduce 0.13 micron product in Q3. AMD will follow with 0.13 micron product in mid to late 2002.

Do you understand what the meaning of "lead" is?
