I say it's being left to die, because:

1. I feel that it has never received the promotion effort ir deserved to succeed, because the power at Ampex doesn't seem to understand sales, and

2. From the quarterly earnings released last night..."Ampex Data Systems Corporation, a subsidiary which the Company intends to sell and which is accounted for as a discontinued operation, reported a loss of $0.03 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2001, compared to a profit of $0.01 per diluted share in the prior year period.” And …”Subsequent to the end of the first quarter, the Company has taken steps to reduce headcount and overhead expenses of Data Systems and the Company will record a restructuring charge in the second quarter's financial statements”

I repeat, ADS is being hung out to die. It will be worth nothing before Ed finds a buyer, much like the shares of AXC stock we all own.

The only people buying Ampex ADS systems are the PBS stations. From what I hear, everyone else is going with Sony.
