The following from deep throats in NY as thank-you for TM's short hints:

``What is keeping us out of recession is the consumer,'' said economist David Wyss of Standard & Poor's in New York. ``There is a risk of a sudden attack of prudence. If people stop living beyond their means, this could turn into a recession.''

This is how I started to see the world cca 18 months ago: no more manufacturing, no more rust belt, for Good ol US. The most important product US can offer is consumption. There's a few distant seconds but nobody can match American capacities in this regard. IOW US has a monopolistic position when it comes to consuming. Credit? No problem. Current account balance? Hey Joe, you heard this one - they still call it balance, harhar. Mortgage? Got one for me? Or a Rollex (Swiss are human too you know), with a card I can charge it to? Dollar about to drift lower? No problem, cut - yeah, I said CUT - the rates.

Every dummy can produce but to consume you need heart, guts and AG.

Now possibly the solution is to keep living beyond our means. This should be self-evident I guess. As long as the malls are opened 24hrs a day the production will never stop. Just dont start buying Csco routers. Im short CSCO.

PS; every single word in the quote deserved italics so thats what they got.
