Rob, eBay has become the fastest growing cult since the LDS church moved on to Utah!

My sister worked at a jewelry store for a while and hated it? Why? Because some customers treated her poorly. That probably happens in a lot of retail establishments, but i wonder if it might be more prevalent with jewelry? The attitude being "i can afford this stuff and you are just a retail clerk." The class difference is perhaps more delineated in that relationship.

There was a time I thought this attidute was more prevalent in jewelry. However, my reasoning was a belief the consumer thought the merchandise cost us almost nothing. I have talked to retailers in other busineses and I suspect it is prevalent in all business but just to different degrees. That is not is a good observation on our society in general in my opinion.

With ebay on the other hand, buyers and sellers are equal partners. Sellers are essentially small business entrepreneurs or buyers themselves who just have something to sell. Plus the whole feedback system helps to check everyone's behavior, I'm sure.

I believe you correct about most sellers on Ebay. I do believe the feedback system is really important.

Your experience says a lot about why so many folks love Ebay !

I wish I had understood this model from its initial stage. The model itself is very much scalable and not to coin the phrase of others, management at Ebay is very good.

As you surely are aware, I have no respect for the management of Amazon. I have heard from the same sources Amazon is suberbly managed. The reason given by those pre-disposed to say that is Amazon "delivers." Well Amazon may deliver but at a enormous financial loss which in the long run, does no one any good.

I just started on Ebay 6 months ago and had not Feedback record with which to use to promote our service and merchandise quality. After six months, I believe we are establishing a decent amount of feedback and therefore, saleas are increasing rapidly.

I want to pint something out about the feedback we have received. Most of it focuses on our service which supposedly was Amazon's claim to fame. However, we can provide service that is apparently appreciated and do so at a profit. The continues to re-inforce my theory that the managemnt of Amazon is really sub par.

Seriously, read some of the feedback. The issue is not if we did a good job or supplied decent merchandise as much as service seems to be on the mind of the consumer. If there is one buyer from us that was unahappy about anything, I am not aware of it.

I am bringing this up because I believe my stores are suberbly managed. I am not out to brag as much as I am out to make a point that fine service does not require operating at a loss and that the consumer knows it when they see it. I am impressed with the Ebay operation if you cannot tell. Please see the feedback below.
