John, I think it will be a quiet summer for PC stocks for two main reasons. First because of the price war underway, which virtually guarantees that earnings will suck all the way around, irrespective of spin at ANY company. Second, because historically, it has been the slow annual part of the business. With that, it is likely to see new 52 week lows being set if there should be some lousy news in the horizon. I think the analysts and investors have to be convinced that there is merit in investing here again since it is a self-destructive path which is being taken by Dell and Compaq, to name just two.

For Compaq, it has the services division along with storage to support the firm. With Dell, it has a slightly better production model. Who wins? Who knows, but it ain't going to be pretty in the interim. Personally, I would put it in terms of who loses the least.

Best regards,

John thanks for your opinion. I happen to think CPQ could break $16+ on the market moving up. The chances of it seeing $15 between now and next fall has not escaped me. However, I don't think it is in the cards for now.
