The DDR mobos only work for the AMD thunderbird machines. The DDR motherboards for P4 probably won't show up until August.

Intel still commands some brand loyalty over AMD and everything else being equal, IT departments will tend to pick Intel. But this preference has been sorely tested since the i820 and the price premium of rdram memory.

The real test for everyone will come if via's socket370 733MHz-1GHz cpus come online and if they can make them cheap enough to cause everyone some pain.

Looks like via has taken their S3 and cyrix purchase and done something useful with them. Who are these guys?

Perhaps the commoditization of the last man standing : CPUs will happen in 2002. Think what it means to have fast x86 CPUs selling for $30-$50.
