You asked me what I thought. I told you. Whether it is so or not, it is what I think. I do not, offhand, know how to express it in a way that will satisfy you. If I think of something that might help, I will try it.....

One of the marks of a person who is frivolous (and thus shallow) is to underestimate the requirements of a task, and to expect to get credit for poor work. Someone who is serious about doing something takes care to find out what is required and to pursue the matter conscientiously.

On the other: I think that some things are actually bad, and some things are actually good. Therefore, of course, I believe also in appropriate responses. Obviously, in a given instance, one might not know all of the factors at play in someone's reaction. But in a general way, I would wonder at the parent who showed no anxiety at his child's injury, or the husband who enjoyed watching his wife suffer.....

Everyday I get told by people
"I could never do what you do." Yet after working all day I feel WONDERFUL.
Because I love it (and it is easy for me, because I truly enjoy it).

Ditto. People all the time ask me how I can possibly stand up in front of a judge and jury for six hours. They go dry just thinking of speaking in public. My wife hates even speaking to a group of her parents in back to school night. She can't IMAGINE voluntarily putting yourself in front of a crowd and speaking without even a prepared speech in front of you. But I love it. It's life to me. OTOH, I could never do what you and my wife do -- be cooped up in a room with 24 children all day long and not only manage their behavior so nobody is dead at the end of the day but actually teach them something.

Hard for one prerson is often easy for another.
