I read an article about this almost two yrs ago. The focus of the article was the co whose software a lot of the .coms were using- AMZN was one of them.

One of the things they could do was track clickstream data of customers, to figure out how price-sensitive they were, then charge them accordingly.

Ironically when I posted this at the time, KIS, who was the most anti-amzn guy around, didn't believe me!

But I don't really uderstand the big deal- airlines and hotels and lots of other sectors do this all the time.

glenn, did you know this?
>>Last year Amazon.com annoyed surfers when it was discovered to be using a dynamic pricing system it had failed to publicize - the e-tailer used the system to make regular customers pay more than first-time users of the site. ® <<

SB,

Thank you for the info but I was very aware of that.

My marketing has been a bit different. We give special discounts to our good customers that are not offered to new customers. Maybe I have it backwards??
