Gottfried,

Let me retract the word doublespeak as I can see it has strong connotations of deception and demagoguery. I personally admire Greenspan's ability to communicate highly arcane information succinctly to an audience that is composed largely of economic illiterates without succumbing to excessive oversimplification, which could be absolutely fatal to the truth. The doublespeak I am referring to is rather the code of the consummate professional, whose statements must sometimes mirror the complexity of reality, even though the public frequently perceives it as mealy mouthed, and prefers the more palatable messages of "Great Communicator" politicians.
