Epinephrine, on NG's 'maintain corporate credibility' line--

yeah, I'm ROTFLMAO with you.

I actually think NG may be an AI program run by AMD PR. ;)

Epinephrine:

"You can make whatever case you want for Dell needing A4 if Tualatin is late but niceguy specifically said (without qualifying in regards to Tualatin) that
Dell needed A4 to maintain credibility in the corporate mobile world. All I can say is ROTLMAO, given that no oem has any corporate Athlon
offerings at all, let alone mobile ones, does that statement make any sense to you?"

Well, then let me therefore qualify, what I thought most would have considered intuitive...

1.Dell needs AMD more than AMD needs Dell to maintain its credibility in the corporate environment...

a1. Dell has positioned itself as offering price/performance competitive products to the corporate world across the 4 spaces within the microprocessor sector. (i.e. If a corporation wanys a best price/performing product, Dell offers it.)
a2. The corporate world, contrary to the impression of some, do purchase laptops from Dell and not on an infrequent basis.

2. AMD, as recently as 2 months ago, was experiencing excess demand for Dresden output according to AMD management. With the launching of the Athlon 4, the Dresden production constraint is likely to remain a major limiting production factor in any environment of surging Athlon 4 demand...Certainly a Dell win would qualify as "surging demand", imo.

b2. AMD's Athlon 4, according to Mr. Sanders is a "clean kill" product as compared to a "win" as characterized by the Athy. The primary difference between a "clean kill" product and a "win" product is that a clean kill not only performs better but can perform at the same or higher MHz level as ant competitor's product. For example, AMD does not offer, yet, a 1.5 MHz Athy but a 1.3 MHz Athy outperforms a 1.5 MHz P4 despite the lower MHz level so the Athy is described as a "win". The Athlon4 which can both offer the same or better MHz level and outperform its competition at that MHz level is described as a "clean kill".

3. For Dell to maintain its image of offering a complete line of the best price/performing products, it must, if AMD's Athlon 4 is a "clean kill" as opposed to a "win" offer the Athlon 4 to uphold such an image or lose credibility with respect to the notion of its offering its corporate base a comoplete line of the best available price/performing products in the world. Fairly easy step for Dell to offer its corporate base the "clean kill" Athlon 4 and uphold this image...On the other hand, because of the potential production constraint in Dresden, it may not be so easy for AMD to meet demand for Athlon 4 should Dell step up to the plate...

4. Conclusion: Dell needs AMD more than AMD needs Dell...

Hope that helps for any who have chosen to twist, for whatever reason, my contention that Dell needs AMD more than AMD at this time...
