Petz,

"I think the fact that Intel is shortly releasing non-Tualatin P3's at 1.13 (and 1.20) GHz is proof that the Tualatin is delayed. It would make NO sense to release a 0.18 Coppermine 1.13 MHz chip if Tualatin is a month away."

You are probably right. However, I have to correct myself. Another possible explanation for a Dell design win (besides Tualatin production problems) would be that the Crush chipset is just *so good* that it totally crushes <gg> the competition. So Dell might be forced to switch over to AMD in order to stay competitive in the high end mobile market.

Petz, what's the link for 1.13 and 1.20 GHz mobile P3s?

I'd be shocked if they were .18 parts... didn't Intel try that once already about 9 months ago? I suppose such laptops could double as seat warmers at outdoor events, though...

Petz, Doug,

"So, are these new 1.13 and 1.20 chips Tualatin's or not?"

I just checked The Inquirer. According to this article (http://213.219.40.69/11050108.htm) they will indeed be Tualatin chips. (No mobile chips either for they are ment for servers):

"... According to the map, the 1.13GHz Tualatin (no Coppermink one now), will reach the world during the week of the 25th of June. Shortly after that, the 1.26GHz will be available - early July..."

So I think now that if the Dell rumor is true it may have more to do with the Crush chipset than with Tualatin production problems.

Even if Intel does release mobile Tualatin on time, they may not have sufficient capacity to release a desktop Tualatin for three quarters. The 1.13 (and possibly 1.2) GHz Coppermines could be desktop Tualatin substitutes.
