John, You keep posting all this coincidental data that is supposed to be signs of similarity with past trends. Everybody knows that the rules have been changed and that kind of thing can't happen again. Just because the debt curves, and the interest curves, and the fact that surpluses occurred in the Japanese (and British) case like our current surplus does not mean we have a snowballs chance in hell of ending up like that. Maybe you should come back and tell us what is going on and how to run the economy when you can conduct the situation as well as Al (and get a book written to prove it).

My feeling is that we have at least 10 more half point rate cuts before there is anything to get worried about. And my feeling is that, unlike the Japanese, you wont find many Americans sitting around on their duffs when they realize there is a sale on money!
