". . .awash in an ocean of silence."

Great line. Poetic even. Melville would be proud.

But let's hope that they maintain their silence. When they spoke their misinformation, surely it had an affect on some investors or speculators, and therefore, albeit temporary, an effect on the stock price.

Interesting that they would hint at QCOM's comments about China's acceptance of CDMA being actionable. Perhaps Lord Cabi of the GSM Round Table would like to comment on the legal merits of government coerced support of technology standards (UMTS) that do not even exist. It will be interesting to see if the WCDMA standards can be produced on time for the June deadline. Given the comments by the operators and the equipment manufacturers, my guess is that the WCDMA standards process will not be completed by June due to the problems with asynchronous handoff and excess SAR limits.

<<...now that the contracts are signed, where the hell are these guys?>>

They are poised to pounce on any news of deployment delays or technical glitches that may arise. In the meantime I expect them to voice their concerns that actual revenues to Q will be delayed, or when received, will be less than expected. They will point out what a commanding lead GSM has in China, and how this whole CDMA deal is a mere drop in the bucket. Pee Wee will then reiterate his buy rating.

Same old tune.

Ilmarinen, who uncharacteristically showed up on our board yesterday (not that he's not welcome; he is)

Does anybody suppose that the two masters of message board haiku, Ilmarinen and impristine, actually comprehend each other?

Here in little Finland we have few illusions of the might of
large nations.

Our existence actually depends on not having them.

Ilmarinen

P.S. Anyone who remebers this story, the 10 beer bottles
(my source a real main land chinese)

A chines and an american, in the bar, late and getting
bored, running out of cash, already having opened beer
bottles with teeth,etc macho enjoyment.
(maybe this was in europe, the caps are differently
designed here??)

chinese: I'll bet you $10,000 you can't take 10 beer bottles
crushed against your skull..

american: any american can take that, no problem

Nine crushed bottled later the american is only slightly
waivering, shaking his head, getting back to normal...

after a long, very long while

american: OK,OK, I'm ready, OK, for the tenth

chinese: you think I'm stupid, that would cost me $10,000

Anyway, congratualtions to China for getting their
13 year hard work almost finished on getting a mixed
developing-high tech membership in WTO, soon..

QCDMA is good for China
