Katherine, Very good point. While I don't necessarily disagree with you, I do believe that Intel could trim their budget and still achieve their strategic objectives. Whether they would do this or not is uncertain, and that's why I stated that it would put capex plans "into question" instead of saying they would cut capex. Intel's capex plans have been defended to the death and this has significantly helped AMAT maintain a high valuation (IMO). I suspect that even the perception of this changing could have some impact.
