Scumbria - PC memory is only suitable for a small class of server work - delivery of rich media, for example, where an undetected error is not a big deal. In a database, ECC up and down the chain is pretty much a requirement, as Sun found out to their chagrin. There is not a clean way to do ECC using PC memory.

Scumbria,

I get it, Ten thinks RISC chips all use SRAM.

Sorry, no, since DRAM for the PC market is the cheapest possible solution, most embedded RISC chips provide glueless interfaces to SDRAM. Pretty amazing, $15 and they manage to combine the CPU and the chipset.

SCUMbria - Are you still planning on being in the valley on Friday?

If so, I have made Tee Time reservations at Deep Cliff Golf Course for 8:30 AM - Friday Morning.
