Hi bridge,

I use Metastock 7.1 and find that it is a very good program for the cost.

The weekest link use to be its data feed. I am using
reuter's for about $22/month. The EOD data is typically
available about 45 minutes after market close. It takes
me about 30 minutes to download the data for 3000 equitys.

Reuters has improved greatly over the past year.

Others I know use qp2 and its data and then feed that data
into MS. They think qp2 is very good.

hope this helps

We tried the real time version, and found that intraday timeframes was limited to 60 minutes at the maximum. For stocks, I routinely use the 65 minute charts, and also larger intraday timeframes, and this is not possible with MetaStock.

b2p,

Whoa, its been weeks since I've been on SI and still the same old questions pop up over and over about feed, issues about Quote.com, etc.

I have little experience with Metastock but in our initial look, the lack of ability to set larger intraday time frames really stands out as a sore thumb. For position or even intraday stock trading I personally want to see 65 minute bars and sometimes larger (like 130). Why 65? Divides evenly into the regular trading day for stocks. 60 minutes does not.

Metastock can only manage up to 60 minute bars.

For reliability and flexibility I'm not sure that anything currently touches the eSignal / Ensign combination. Ensign takes a while to get used to, but it works and can do almost anything.
