- J.P. Morgan said on Wednesday that it lowered earnings per share estimates on Applied Materials Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMAT - news), a maker of semiconductor equipment, in 2001 to 41 cents from $1.38, citing customer cancellations from weak demand

So AMAT is selling at a PE 137 for 2001 earnings. How come you all aren't griping how high the PE is like you were saying it was so low in the 20's last year?

I know the answer.
