Yes, that makes sense, but it's still an "if". Also, if the Dresden process is already using .13u-like transistors, just what likely boost will they see when they eventually move to a full .13u process? Not too much it would seem. All speculation of course and if Dresden and Austin use the same litho equipment then we are still at a loss to explain why the AL process topped out at only 1GHz, unless Copper really did provide a significant boost. Is the only difference between the 2 processes the metal layers? If not then perhaps AMD didn't want to spent the resources developing the faster transistors for their AL process?
