<He never
struck me as a bullshitter>

never did me neither. which is why to be frank, i remain outraged.

<but when it came to actually what he was doing in the market
he seemed to be a straight shooter.>

again, my perception for a very long time.

<I guess it's possible that when I was away from SI from Mar - Dec of
last year that he suddenly changed character>

well the change in the market may have had a tad bit to do with it <g>

<but I have yet to see anyone point to anything specific. >

we all have to draw conclusions about fellow posters as we see fit. getting into details is really a waste of time on everyone's part. but at the same time, i try to speak my mind, and consider it even to be a service to other posters when REAL MONEY IS AT STAKE HERE.

i appreciate your straightforward response. rob

>>He never struck me as a bullshitter (except when he tried to justify the valuations of his stocks which I never took seriously)<<

craig, you were wise. others weren't. the bull market wore down many folks with a reasoned investing approach and they said to h*ll with it, i'm in no matter how silly it is. they did this, in part, b/c the williams of the world bsed like mad about a "new era." even you admit it was bs.

i saw it as such. however, others threw in the towel and eventually lost their butt. is william at fault? he sure enjoyed basking in the glory and being viewed as a guru by many. he did play a prt in some people's decision making process. even so, i don't think he deserves most of the trashing he gets b/c some folks play the blame game too much. they are probably shell shocked.

my only issue with william is that i said a gazillion times that his style of speculating always ends badly. of course, he disagreed. vehemently. he was also wrong to do so.

Craig,

Bill is the same now as he was then. He just looks a year older;-) One can't see him on the thread regardless.
