Solon,
Those who know me consider my main flaw to be: "He's too logical!" As for the Bible being contradictory, I doubt we could ever convert each other to any satisfaction. -g- I will agree with you on this point; there are many apparent contradictions: in the Bible, and in science. Scientists once believed the world was flat. Were they stupid? No, just had less facts to work with. To them, a round world was a contradiction. A man on the moon? Never! One day your resolve against the "flat earth"(if you will) of the Bible will be clarified both to you and to me.

I don't see mankind advancing at all in things that matter to me. The 20th century went down as the bloodiest ever. Is the invention of the microwave or the internet or advances in surgery comparable to wiping out murder, poverty, war, theft, abuse, etc? Has science and logic had any impact(towards curing) on these plagues?

<<But the methodology of reasoned thought has
provided a workable way for people to improve the quality of their lives--to
bring greater happiness and less suffering--unfortunately, not to all.>>

I seriously doubt you can prove this statement.

Thanks for the links, I'll check it out.

By the way, isn't the word supernatural contradictory? If something happens that we can't can't explain, the fact that it did happen means that it was a natural act.
