They clearly say in the article that the entire $80B is going to networking equipment. The whole article is about networking equipment vendors and the equipment that will be purchased from them.

In addition, as I also further pointed out in my previous post, that is just the service provider pie. You also have to count up the enterprise, SMB, and consumer pies, which combined will triple the $80B.

So do I think a revenue weighted basket of gear makers should be shorted? I wouldn't do that, because I believe that is way too risky. This year's revenues for these companies probably will not grow that much, if at all. Next year's revenues will provide some upside. The stock market moves in anticipation of fundamentals, sometimes as much as 6 months in advance. So I don't feel comfortable betting against that.
