Re: I would assume that Intel knows very well that products like you describe exist. Are you suggesting that they don't and they're going to discuss the new process tomorrow only to find out that everyone else is doing it and Intel simply had no idea?

It sounds a lot like those "world's first 300mm FAB! Coming soon from Intel!" press releases that are showing up 2 years after Infineon went into mass production on 300mm at their plant in Dresden.

I warned you about this last year:

it seems that the P4 hot spot could be located in or around the floating-point unit or in its double pumped ALUs (aka Rapid Execution Engine).

Those double speed ALU's were the dumbest CPU idea I have heard of yet, and were conceived by someone lacking a basic understanding of CPU performance.

let me tell you what they are going to announce: they tweaked one of their processes and now it's little bit more efficient doing flash and logic together. but it is only more efficient than what intel had before.
