I talked to a P4 designer at February, 2000 IDF about the double pumped ALUs. The first thing I asked him was: "How do you remove the heat from the hot spot?". His answer was something like: "yes this is a problem and we do have some work left to do there".

BTW, the original internal name for double pumped ALUs was Fire Ball and not Rapid Execution Engine.

TWY, you can really be a butthole sometimes. The fact is I'm not qualified to comment on CPU architecture and admitting it is hardly a copout, it's a fact. You're not going to get much help in the future with that kind of an attitude.
