LG Electronics Sees Soaring Sales in India
May 17, 2001 (SEOUL) -- LG Electronics Inc. said it has seen impressive sales growth in India, which emerged as the second-largest overseas market behind China for Korean companies.

The Korean company posted record-high sales of US$550 million in April, the highest since it established its Indian branch, LGEIL, in 1997.

LGEIL said demands for refrigerators, flat monitors and air conditioners rose sharply this year. It expects sales for this year to climb to US$550 million, up 22 percent from 2000.

LG said it is planning to invest a total of US$185 million into the market by 2005, focusing on home electronics goods, CDMA products and WLL facilities.
