Don, RE: Do you have any idea what obligation or for how long an underwriter must maintain a positive outlook for a stock after the initial underwriting. MSDW held on to Rambus for much longer than did the other underwriters.

There is no obligation. In fact, if you asked Morgan Stanley, they would maintain that there is the ever present 'Chinese Wall' in between research and investment banking. History suggests that this wall would appear to have several holes in it.

Morgan Stanley was the lead underwriter and ran the books. The others would not be considered bankers for Rambus.
