BWAC, you may believe whatever you like. I believe what I said. Perhaps you can give an example of how shorting to hedge drives down the price, or why a hedged entity would care one way or the other after their hedged position is established. Your earlier example would have had no net effect on the stock.

It is not naïveté, it is an understanding of how things actually work.
