Precisely. The situation is so tenuous that any small structural change in the market sends the companies into the tank, and out of your tank, unless you hold those dirty dogs.

It isn't accurate to say "slack in marginal demand". That notion is too complex to be meaningful. You should say, "a reduction in marginal demand". Outside of an instant, the instant where nothing has enough time to occur, the marginal of anything is zero.
