P/E zero.
" Newmont Mining Corp. is engaged in the production of gold, the development of gold properties, the exploration for gold and the acquisition of gold properties worldwide. For the three months ended 3/31/01, revenues fell 7% to $427.5 million. Net loss applicable to Common and before acct. change totaled $39.1 million vs. an income of $6.1 million. Results reflect lower realized gold prices, lower gross margins and a $60.5 million merger and restructuring charge."

That said, we have seen a gold price move from $252 to 273.50. Last quarter NEM produced 1.39 million ounces at a net operating loss of $5.5 million.

Does it not seem logical(though understating) that they would be able to wash 75% of the PoG increase to the bottom line?
$16.125 X 1.39(M)= $22.49(M) - 5.5(M) = $16.9M profit

CSCO also had no earnings, but the price for their product is declining.
