We are not a member of OPEC, but Amercian companies are partners with OPEC countries.....We do have a vested interest........

So what! Damn right we have a vested interest. Where are we supposed to get our oil Patricia? Certainly not from our own resources if you and your peers continue to have it your way. That is the irony, we are tethered to OPEC like a barge to a tug. I have a friend too. He has worked in the transportation industry for 32 years. He says that the world has enough oil reserves to last it 300 years. I don't know where he gets that figure. I suppose if someone want's me to badly enough I could call him and ask. The point is, America needs oil. Get over it. Until there are alternatives available we will use up all of Earth's resources powering the machines that we use in our daily lives. It is ridiculous for anyone to think that companies supplying power shouldn't make a profit. Californians made their bed and must now lie in it. Perhaps a little inconvenience will enlighten Californians. I doubt it. M

<< We do have a vested interest. >>

Obviously we have a vested interest in the ability to purchase oil and the hope that oil prices remain stable at a reasonable price.

That doesn't mean we "are part of OPEC".
