China: PCCW to move call centre northward 2001-05-18 Terms and Conditions Hong Kong's dominant telecoms carrier Pacific Century CyberWorks said Wednesday it plans to move some of its call centre operations to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou by the end of the year in a cost-cutting move. PCCW said the planned 250-person call centre, which would be its first on the mainland, would handle directory assistance inquiries from Hong Kong customers, as well as calls relating to its Netvigator Internet service. PCCW spokeswoman Joan Wagner said the call centre, which will be built if an initial trial proves successful, would not result in any layoffs at the company.
