Hi all; HP ships PC2100 Athlons, no more PC1600.

They now carry 8 customizable PC2100 DDR Athlons. To get to the page, try this:
Go to shopping.hp.com
then click on "->desktops"
then click on "->show all customized pcs"

Amusingly, there are 8 P4s (and 1 PIII and 2 Durons, all with SDRAM) on the same page, but they all come stock with PC600, LOL.

Since these are customizable, I can get more statistics on RDRAM vs DDR upgrade pricing:

PC2100 PC600 PC800
DIMMs DDR RDRAM RDRAM
--- ------ ------ -----
128MB (?) $ 0 $ 0 $ 30 (base)
256MB (?) + $150 + $240 $300
384MB (?) + $270
512MB (?) + $390

Yes, you read that right, the P4 machines don't seem to be available with more than 256MB installed, LOL!!!

As with the Compaq case, DDR is cheaper and offers more options. But that's not all, despite the fact that the Athlons are likely faster, even the fastest Athlon is cheaper than the cheapest P4. I wonder where that Rambus pricing advantage went, LOL!!! No wonder Intel is dropping P4 pricing!

Pricing is comparable to the Compaq prices: #reply-15817669
