Stupid question from an amateur...
What is goodwill? Why is it called goodwill?
Is it kinda like all the extra stuff in your garage that you dump off at the Goodwill, and get a tax writeoff?

HI Alan:

Its been a while since I've been in WIND and actually still waiting and lurking. Good to see you've come back to the thread. You always provide valuable fundamental data on the company and its products. Especially for a not techie like me.

FYI the FASB this week changed the purchase accounting implementation date to fiscal years starting after December 15, 2001. This was from the June date you mentioned. The goodwill change is part of this standard.

So the change is still on track just delayed a little bit.
