TwiLight Zone, Outer Limits or Indelible Impressions of Talking Heads?

Silicon Investor - Is it us, or are we it?

"... enjoys seeing old thread mates kicking around."

Any chance you know of a JACK on the GPGI thread,
as not only is he still "... kicking around."
but still "kicking himself in his rear-end in public."

It was not until i saw some men years ago in the
Middle East flogging themselves with chains of iron
to show in public their allegiance to their object of worship,
and through the pain they received in public
they enter deeper into thoughts that they are now
more worthly and closer connected to what they hold important.

Seems to me that gold bugs would display lots of this
type of activity, but as yet i see none done in public.

On the other hand i have observed a tremendous amount
of this type of self-flogging by those who invested into
what was a sure-fire red-hot to the moon in a few short
days or weeks opportunity to extract precious metals
from dirt cheap desert dirt.

We all heard & observed "misery loves company"
but here it seems that a desert dirt type misery
has a tendency for these folks to keep the company
invested into as a place of permanent misery to
continuously flog themselves in public.

Something about one's honor being corrupted and only
through a journey where one constantly exacerbates
the pain might a callus form thick enough so that when
thoughts touch this surface of false-hope no more pain
will be felt, just a dull reminder of what not to do.

In theory maybe, but even if so the JACK(s) have not
the training nor the insight of others, who like those
masters of martial arts where a hand can break a brick
without shattering any bones, before the hand becomes
hard and thick with a layer of callus at the striking
point where the force is transfered from hand to brick,
one needs to first allow the soft hand to receive what
is a learning lesson to teach and allow time for soft
tissue to firm-up a healtly foundation so that layer
upon layer of protection can be obtained.

My observations of JACK is that only layer upon broken
layers of blood & tears have been allowed.

Not good to kick oneself for making a mistake,
as it prevents learning about the error when
the new pain arrives as punishmint.

13 million posts later from Talking Heads on Silicon Investor
has made Indelible Impressions of little progress, it seems.

Maybe the first step needed before progress can be made
is to understand that no progess has been made, and from
this one should either do more of the same, or not.

<I am not sure where I earned a place in Doug's head but you earned a place in mine during the IPMCF era. >

I remember those days... An sad story. But I don't regret the money I spent to visit these folks in Phoenix. It saved me a lot more.
