I tend to disagree with your narrow assessment of Intel's
contribution to the Rambus practical implementation.
There are other patents, filled jointly by Intel and
Rambus on the subject.


I would not be surprised if Intel had made significant contributions. However, I was responding to your assessment of the patent which you quoted which does appear to relate only to an improvement in initialisation methods. Such improvements no doubt arose when Intel were designing their own memory controllers for 820 and 840.
