Crucial drops DDR price pants By: Drew Cullen Posted: 18/05/2001 at 16:30 GMT Crucial.com, the retail arm of DRAM maker Micron Technology, has cut volume prices on PC2100 DDR modules to bring them into line with PC133. There's no way that the two cost the same to produce, can there? Crucial says there's not much in it. The combination of increasing DDR output by Micron, the inherent cost benefits in building an evolutionary product such as DDR and Crucial's factory-direct sales, enables the company to offer price parity, the it claims. Further price cuts should come, as Micron migrates DDR SDRAM production to its 0.15m process. The new price list for Crucial PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules start at US $41.39 for 128MB and US $79.19 for 256MB. They are both shipping in volume. ®
