Anyone notice the alliances forming in telcom:

FTHL and TCM are partnering on an Trans-Pacific network.

17 April 2001: FLAG Telecom (Nasdaq: FTHL; LSE: FTL), a leading global network services provider and independent carriers' carrier, and TyCom Ltd. (NYSE: TCM; BSX: TCM) today announced that they have agreed in principle to develop their previously announced transpacific systems under a joint development arrangement, with TyCom building the complete transpacific ring, including all undersea cable, electronics and cable stations, for approximately $1.7bn. FLAG Telecom has also selected TyCom to provide subsea maintenance for its Atlantic and Pacific cable systems.

FTHL and LVLT are partnering on a Trans-Asian system:

9 January 2001 - Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT), a global broadband infrastructure company, and FLAG Telecom (Nasdaq: FTHL; LSE: FTL), a leading independent global carriers' carrier and network services provider, today announced an agreement for a new multi-terabit intra-Asia submarine cable system. The six-fibre pair system is designed to offer intra-regional, city-to-city connectivity between the high traffic centres of Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and Taipei.

GX has partnered with LVLT on AC-2/Yellow. GX owns 50%, LVLT owns 25% and Viatel owns 25% (if they are still in business)

TSIX does not have any major alliances that I know of. I'm sure they are buying capacity, but from whom.

I think we'd best keep our eyes on FTHL. They are still way behind GX in terms of buildout, but they have some significant alliances.

Anyone have more information fidelity on FTHL?

Fez

What happens to GX earnings post 2004 is of little interest to me. I will have cashed out my long position long before then. Once GX achieves scale, they cannot continue high percentage growth, as has been amply demonstrated by mid caps that mature into large caps.

I think the analyst is nuts. Management asserted the 40% for the NEXT five years on a call in November (if memory serves me).
