Imcompetence? Reagan served two terms. Heck, Reagan was in all likelihood was medically unfit to serve as President due to Alzheimers, but they brushed him off stage when he was asked any questions. This administration however has surpassed any Presidency in my memory [going back through every President to the Kennedy administraton] in it's ability to lie to the people. Whether that's just cause for impeachment is another question. It could come under the abuse of power catch all. Of course Bush has improved our international recognition being referred to as the Global Village Idiot, gotten us voted off the Human Rights Commision, etc. He was shown us his courage in subsidizing the energy industry at the mere cost of survival of the planet. A bold and courageous gesture. His willingness to spend Billions of dollars to develop and field a Star Wars defense system that has no positive value other than to feed big money to defense contractors. Look how the Administration has returned civility to the political process washingtonpost.com ... The president asked for the public's help in combating critics of his program. "When you hear these folks -- it doesn't matter what side of the debate they're on -- who are willing to kind of castigate somebody who may have a good idea, stand up and let them have it," he said. or from Cheney ... Cheney called conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh's radio program and said the administration is confident in its ability to implement the energy policies. He denounced some of his critics as "people who don't have the knowledge or the guts to address us on the policy issues." And calling on Rush, brilliant! The paragon of civility; only exceeded by our own jlallen. Just think of the qualified candidates he's brought us, e.g., Olson. Who was so elequently defended by the beloved duo, no man is above the law , Kenneth Starr and Senator Trent Lott. washingtonpost.com "What if he [Olson] did have an involvement in the Arkansas Project? Is there something illegal about that?" Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) said on NBC's "Meet the Press." Former Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr, on ABC's "This Week," contended that Democratic complaints that Olson was "evasive" in his testimony amount to "flyspecking." If I understand that correctly, it's fine and dandy to be evasive in testimony and actively participate in the dissemination of knowningly false information about the President. The perfect qualification of solicitor general. And then there's the reception at the Vice President's residence. I'm sure that's been covered in some of the later posts. jttmab
