What's the story on Athlon mobile incorporation in major OEMs' notebooks? A search of websites of the four majors (besides Dell) finds only one using it, Compaq, and they have it in one line only out of nine or so, and then it's offered along with Celerons and slower PIIIs, and not with a 15" display.

Win, you are saying :
"Intel didn't say anything at all publicly about Merced till late '97"
AND
Other sources say "Merced was originally scheduled for '97".

So, somebody other than Intel decided/announced that Merced is coming out in 1997 and you chose to believe that.
