Sam and threaders,

I changes the y-axis to logarithmic scale for the historical data in this chart.
bigcharts.com

To me it shows two distinct patterns of growth (long term). One from 1981-1992 and other from 1992-2001. Now if we can make a case for continued growth (1992-2001) trend then it seem like a good time to buy but if a case can be made for slower growth (1981-92) then there is caution for long term investors. I don't know enough to support either case. Since I do not invest long term. This may be the time to convert me to long term investing. I may decide to put about 15-20 of my funds for long term if a strong case can be made.

A Hunch: Since amat closed at 55 on Friday, my may 55 calls expired right on the button. I speculate that if I lose my shares then the pros expect the stock to go higher. If I don't lose my shares then the pros expect it to go lower. Wether my shares get recalled or not is a judgement call. Let's see how it works out?
