Yes, that may be true.. But, Qualcomm is not about Chips.. Qualcomm is about royalties.. (At least after SpinCo)

But, I remember (several years ago) when IJ and company were talking about getting QCOM chips integrated into Laptops, PDA devices, etc.. The royalty numbers were "mind-boggeling" 4% of the price of a laptop in royalties.. Who cares about Cell Phones!!! We are going to make a fortune off of data... ChaChing!!!

Then came "very cheap" 802.11b.. And then came the "CDMA Modem Card License".. So, now all that gravy royalties off of those Laptops and PDA's have dissapeared into a couple of hundred dollar Modem Card.. And we know if the Koreans make them.. They are going to be $49.95.. Billions of Dollars in royalties evaporated..
