Bob, I actually wrote a bit of light verse about Spiro once and had it published by a small magazine. That was back in the early 70s when I was sporting a beard and a black beret and thinking I could be a professional poet even though I had no discernible talent. It was a good gig for meeting women, though. Alas, they were all from Vassar and wanted to talk about death all the time. <g>

I also wrote a 5th grade essay on Maryland when we had to pick a state in our social studies class. I've always been intrigued by the way the state is divided in half.

In Texas, our state flower, the Bluebonnet, is a weed. But I think both it and the Suzie Dark Eyes are pretty. Of course, as a color challenge gent, I'm not much of a judge. <g>

I am sorry to hear that you have crooked politicians. We don't have any of those in Texas. <g> Actually, most of the crooked politicos cross the Sabine River because they are actually heroes in Louisiana. But we have our share of those who stay here because they are geographically illiterate. But most of our guys are like Dubya, just a wee bit slow and stubborn. <g>
