Michael, thanks for a great web site.... I guess what bothers me most about the data is the fact that the US reached its production peak in about 1970 and it's been going down ever since. The data say that we will never have enough domestic oil to satisfy our demands despite all the polemics we hear from both parties about "gaining independence from foreign oil". The message I get from the link is that is will always be necessary for us to purchase most of our oil or in the extreme to "take" it by force. I am not at all comforted by the charts, even in the best cases world production peaks in about 40 years.....the USA and the rest of the world clearly need alternative energy sources.
