Example. I just bought a special printer cable by mail order. There was a surcharge on it as it was only a small order. And guess what?, I had to pay 17.5% VAT on that too.


Q. Why does the government steal?

A. Because it can.

But 17.5% VAT sounds so small and so fair. How does it really work and what other taxes happily co-exist?

In my post Message 15812523 , I effectively claimed without proof that 50% of retail prices are due to embedded taxes and have yet to be challenged on that claim, weak as a standard of evidence as that is.
