Maybe you can do the math on this. What is the premium for DDR?

<G> If you check my posts, you'll find that that was exactly my point. I was responding to Carl's statement that as soon as SDRAM and DDR were the same price, manufacturers would rush to implement DDR. And since Micron is the market maker for DDR (and since the other vendors have said they'll have to match Micron's prices), we're at parity now.

So I'm waiting for the rush (and possibly Carl's excuses). Last I heard, reports from Asia said RDRAM-based P4 mobos were outselling DDR mobos by 40%, and that DDR was being met with "pessimism". Which also pointed out that his "count" of DDR mobos (> P4 mobos) was a flawed statistic.

Hi Scumbria,

I have more questions for you EExperts. If RMBS have never existed and the "multiplexed bus" in DRAM, had public domain prior art all the way back to 1988:

1) What would INTC's newest CPU design look like?
2) Would AMD, VIA/Cyrix still be around?
3) What would the next main memory commodity look like?
4) And how many Memory Fab companies would still be competing?
