Or we can have business plans written by engineers wiht their heads up their A***s all day long who don;t understand what a return on investors equity really means and go forming companies in which they get sued until they DON'T have a house to construct a LAN in any more....

I think Starbucs was more that the head of Starbucs and the head of Microsoft hang out at the same parties together.......

And it all takes away from the potential of QCOM and Wireless Operators.. IMO.. Imagine when companies that paid Billions of Dollars for 3G spectrum, find out that Mom and Pops Dinner is offering similar/faster services inside their dinner FOR FREE!!

No such thing as a free lunch, even at Mom's and Pop's Diner. The price will be paid by the customer somehow, someway, giving the merchant who does not provide the free access a competitive advantage.

There has to be a need. Most small to medium size establishments have no need and get no advantage from providing free access. In fact, they could unnecessarily expose themselves to competitive pressures.

Airports might be excluded due to the need business travelers may have for immediate access. I can't think of any other place where your theories might work.

>> Hey honey, I need to check my mail real Quick <<
Well if you haven't got cellular, you can't be sure of finding a connection.
If you're in a hurry, you can't waste time hunting for an 802.11b enabled store.
