That is a good example of the many secondary tech centers that have begun developing in the wake of Silicon Valley's economic success.

I might also point out that the phenomenon is historically backward for tech so far. Throughout history, universities have FOLLOWED the economic leads, and either have been founded or adapted to service the type of activity that is nearby. Texas has many fine universities that developed originally around agricultural and engineering disciplines. They will easily adapt to biotech and micro-electronics as necessary...
